Bishopric Message

Dear Amazing 3rd Ward

I love Spring. It is a time of new life, warmth, renewal, spring sports and sunshine! Not only that, but every spring we get to watch General Conference, remember the restoration of the Church and most importantly celebrate the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ! No wonder why Spring is the best season!!

What an amazing General Conference that we’ve just had. Each talk was different and inspired, but my ears and heart perked up every time I heard “Jesus” mentioned. Spoiler alert: it was a LOT of times!! Why? Because Jesus Christ is central to the Plan of Salvation. He is our Savior, Redeemer, Brother, and Friend. Without His atonement and resurrection, all would be lost. He lives! He loves us!

I was reading from Enos in the Book of Mormon this week and was touched by the teachings. Enos said that he “wrestled” before God before he received a remission of his sins. Repentance isn’t always easy – but it is so worth it! After much prayer, a voice came to him saying “Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed.” Enos then said that his guilt was swept away because he knew that God could not lie. He then asked the Lord, “How is it done?” and the Lord said, “Because of thy faith in Christ.” Then, “Go to, thy faith had made thee whole.”   Our faith in Jesus Christ allows us to repent and be forgiven of our sins also. His atonement makes that possible!

I hope that during this Easter season we can each feel the immense love of our Savior and Heavenly Father as we study the scriptures and the words from general conference. I know that we will be filled with the Holy Ghost and be taught the eternal truths of the Gospel. Just like Enos, it is through our faith in Christ that we “shalt be blessed”.
